You explore a world full of weird plants and decide whether to shoot them or not. The action loop is a sidescrolling platformer-shooter built around aim, fire, and the occasional tentacle encounter when you fail to dodge in time, with the dev pitching it as 'an action exploration game where you shoot weird plants (or don't, if you prefer)'.
Deep in Brixen Space (still known by its old abbreviation DiBS) by MoxieLoaf is a hand-drawn furry side-scrolling shooter with a single female protagonist. Tentacles are the main hazard, and the game can be played as a more cautious explorer or a run-and-gun depending on how you handle the wildlife.
