Kingsguard opens on Torvair, an island divided between three nations, where a young prince has been kept locked in his own castle by a distant father. When his sheltered life finally cracks, he flees Havena under the protection of the Kingsguard (the elite bodyguards sworn to the royal family), heading out into a continent he has only ever read about in books.
The dev sets the tone upfront: no shining armor, no damsels rescued at night, no adventure anyone would wish for. Just a dark, grim journey the prince has no choice but to see through to the end.
